A very warm welcome!
I am so excited to be photographing your family this fall!
Welcome to my booked mini-session client page. Over the next few weeks & months I will be preparing for your session. That means: keeping my gear tuned up, continuing to shoot daily to hone my skills, and answering any questions you may have! You may have hopped over to my family portfolio already to check out some past clients and gather ideas. Below I am highlighting some information that may be helpful for you as you prepare for your mini-session.
These sessions will take place on a trail or shaded location where I can accomodate several families with lighting changes
Final location details will be sent out 2 weeks prior to your session
Begin planning your family outfit
Think of 2-3 complimentary colors
Pair your chosen colors with neutrals
One person in pattern works best
My mini-sessions are FAST but I still capture what's most important to you:
Images of everyone smiling and looking at the camera, your kiddos together, each of your kiddos alone, and you and your spouse, are some of the images I am able to capture in our short time together
ON THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION
Yay! The day of your session has arrived. parents can sometimes feel ultra-stressed on the day of, which is completely understandable. Coordinating naps, snacks, outfits, and moods can exhaust anyone. As a mom of 4 young kids, I totally get it!The biggest tip I can give is to try not to be stressed and instead focus on being present to this time with your family.
Easier said than done, right?!
What feels chaotic to you during your session will capture just fine on my camera. Rambunctious energy is welcome and will capture so much better than fake smiles! Kids feed off of their parents demeanor so keep the mood calm and relaxed and try not to stress about anyone's behavior.
Mini-sessions are scheduled in 15 minute nets, so it's important to arrive 10 minutes early to account for diaper changes, clothing fixes, or a minute to stretch legs.
I recommend avoiding car naps if possible so that your kiddos aren't groggy when they arrive.
If you feel your children may need some "treat incentives," I suggest bringing something that is low mess such as fruit snacks, smarties, or mini marshmallows, and give these to your kids after your session.
Make your mini-session the main event of the day! Try to avoid coming from a playdate, trip to the zoo, or soccer game.
DURING YOUR SESSION
My sessions are very laid-back and fun. I always say I want my sessions to feel like a fun family night out. I will spend a few minutes in the beginning trying to capture a few photos where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera. The majority of my sessions, though, are focused on capturing your connection and interactions with each other.
If your child is having a hard time, try to think about what will bring their attention back to the family. Do they like being tossed in the air? Do they like being swung between mom and dad? Do they like being sung to or told a story?
My goal is to capture your family as authentically as possible, so think about what you typically do as a parent to engage your child and connect with them.
Being present and playful with them will result in a gallery that looks and feels like your authentic family!
Run and play with your kids (take this into consideration when planning shoes!)
Snuggle, hug, and love on your people
Sit on the ground
Twirl and toss your kids in the air
Laugh together & have fun!
