Graduation season is here and this year our seniors get to celebrate BIG! After a year of cancelled school, proms, and homecomings, high school students are getting to once again have the school experience they've been looking forward to, including walking across the stage and receiving their diploma. I can't think of a better way to capture this milestone in your son or daughter's life, than with a senior photography session. Today, I want to share some tips for helping your child prepare for their senior photography session.
3 Tips For Preparing For Your
Senior Photography Session
1. Choose Clothing That Represents Your Senior and Showcases This Milestone
My primary goal as a San Diego senior photographer, is to make your graduate feel comfortable and at their best during their senior session. I want your daughter to feel absolutely beautiful and your son to feel confident. One way for this to happen is to choose clothing they love, that is easy to move around in, and wardrobe pieces that represent this incredible milestone in their life! High school letterman jackets, college apparel, and their cap and gown are great ways to make them feel and look their best during their session!
2. Make Your Senior Photography Session the
Main Event of Their Day
This piece of advice is something I always give to my family session clients, but I'm going to reiterate it here! Standing alone in front of a camera can be an uncomfortable feeling and if your senior is already burnt out from a long day, chances are their mood is going to reflect in their photos. I highly recommend keeping the day relaxed and laid-back so that they look forward to getting out of the house and doing something special just for them.
3. Treat Your Senior Photography Session As a Date With Your Soon-To-Be Graduate
I know how busy life gets with children, work, and life in general. If you have more than one child or are a working parent, it can be difficult to find one-one-one time with your kids. I always recommend that you treat your senior photography session as a date with your soon-to-be grad, and spend this time just with him/her. Leave other siblings at home if possible and be present during their session to help with wardrobe changes or to make them feel relaxed in front of the camera. Chatting with them and engaging them in conversation helps them loosen up and be themselves, which creates beautiful authentic images that reflect your son or daughter's personality. This is exactly what I want to capture in your senior photography session!
