Newborn Session at Sweetwater Bridge | San Diego Family Photographer

I absolutely love this location in San Diego for family photography sessions! There are so many spots that allow for variety in my clients' galleries. The bridge, lush trees, and open field all paint a beautiful backdrop for capturing connection and love among family members.

Newborn Photography Redefined

This past weekend I had the privilege of capturing this beautiful family here. My newborn sessions are laid-back, and simple. I don't use props or artificial lighting. I love capturing newborns in their natural state, which is usually mom or dad's arms. When most people think of newborn photography they picture a baby only a few days old. I believe anytime up to 12 weeks is great for capturing newborns. The older they are, the more smiley and alert they will be. If you want to capture their emerging personality or the color of their eyes, 6-12 weeks is an ideal stage for that.

Fresh Air Does Wonders At A Newborn Session

There is something about being outside that always calmed my babies down when they were infants. The fresh air and scenery creates a stimulating environment and this guy was taking it all in! For new parents it can be nice to get outside after being cooped up with a baby all day. This location offers various trails that are beautiful to walk on, and the open field is just gorgeous at sunset. Despite the June gloom the lighting was beautiful.

Congrats Wages family on your sweet addition! I loved capturing you three.
